Twitter Issues Awesome New Updates: Bit.ly, New Follower & DM Notifications

Today Twitter has released an onslaught of new features and enhancements to the service. Previously, you might have been aware of and using tools such as Topify for advanced follower notifications. Topify presented you with more details about new followers such as how many followers/followings they have, bio, and a few of their latest tweets, and also allowed you to do various important functions like following and dming back right from your email.

Twitter seemed to have learned from Topify with their introduction of new follower email notifications. Not only have the new follower emails received a facelift, so have emails of new direct messages, or DMs.

From Tiny to Bit.ly

Next, Twitter replaces TinyURL with Bit.ly as the default link shortener. Now, when you paste a link into your Twitter messages, the link will be shortened using Bit.ly instead of Tinyurl.   • What would be nice is if they would give users tools to better organize DMs... as it is now it is not very manageable if you have a large number of them...search on DMs would be a dream for many :-)

    I'm just now really getting my feet wet with disqus. I am really loving the way it integrates with twitter and the other web 2.0 social platforms. ;)
