I'm a newbie to Twitter. My work is all about supporting inside customers, so I am not out to drum up more business, but I am out to find ways to improve what we do and share our own successes. Thus far, I am here to learn and to find and follow the best of the best. My organization does not all these kind of tools (social networking types) to be used at the office, so I must live and learn Twitter from home. Trying to figure out why are the "bad" parts that could hurt the internal network and then make the case to open some of these tools to our employees.

I am a Grad Student working on my Thesis Research Project and I am using twitter to network with Public Relations Professionals and learn how are they reacting to the twitter revolution and how are they integrating this tool into their Public Relations strategy plan. I will appreciate all the feedback.

I intend to promote and sell my motivational e book expecting its release shortly. I aspire to get in touch with three kind of people or communities. First the reader community, Second the affiliate community that promote and sell my e book, Thirdly publishers or platforms that take up my book for further sale.

At first, my goal was to drive more traffic to my site, but found that telling other tweeters "hey check out my site" is not effective. Now I just network and try to connect my followers with other followers who I feel might benefit from each other. I try to create a win win situation.

I joined Twitter at my older sister's suggestion. She and I both recently began blogs on wordpress.com and discovered that Twitter was a website we could use to generate visits to said blogs. Now I think it's fun :)

I use twitter to sing...

I am interested in writing memoirs, family stories, and stories of the past. I am an RVer who often Workamps--meaning that my husband and I take jobs or volunteer positions as we travel. This enables us to go to places we might not afford without the extra income; Workamping also gives us a reason for being in a place. We stay longer and explore more.
I love music, reading--especially historical novels--and travel. I would like to ghost writing and also am available to edit the memoirs or famiily histories of others--people who might not know exactly how to put together their stories.

1) I create a bigger list of followers with Twitter then my list created using aweber form.
The list of followers is targeted, probably 50% it is.
2) I learn a lot from others
3) It is easy and quick to change opinions
4) can help me to adv. affiliate marketing and for my own products
5) Not so many restricted rules

I created a Twitter account so that I could follow my favorite band, The USED. Thats pretty much all I use it for, aside from my occasional rantings.

Keep an eye on what famous people do, possibly TALK to those famous people, meet new people from all over & become friends. See how the "other half" lives. Also gives a quick "Chronicle" of my life to those who want to know.

conceptually, I think of twitter as a big open chat room - an extension of IRC and IM.

I've only been on Twitter for a few months. At first I lurked, not sure what to make of this new world. My first objective was to let authors know about NorLightsPress. We're looking for great books to publish and promote. Gradually I'm doing this, but I've also come across such interesting people and information I'd never have found any other way. Last Sunday I attended a family dinner and just in passing asked if any of them knew about "Twitter." Most had heard about it but no one else had started using it, yet. It started an interesting conversation about social networking and bookmarking.

I use Twitter to find out about how other people socialize and interact with one another. You never know what you can learn from others, unless your paying attention. People are fascinating. I think that is why we are all here, to learn from one another and grow.

To promote me and to socialize and do social network stuff.

My goal for using Tweeter is to build up the knowledge base for the Real Estate Investment Club of Austin (REICAUSTIN) at www.reicaustin.org, acquire more support team members for the club and the members of the club, and to build up a bigger group of real friends in the Austin area since I have only been in the Austin area for a short time.

Thanks for the great ideas and forum. My use of Twitter is twofold -- as a writer/reviewer, it's a fun challenge for me to fit in a meaningful review and/or insight in just 140 characters. Additionally, I try to cover items that are not generally well-known, and therefore I can introduce someone to something new rather than simply offer an opinion on a CD, film, book, etc. that they have likely already heard of and/or may already have experienced. The goal is to inspire and pique interest ...

following along on news programs, still investigating all the ways to use it. currently cking on harvesting excess fruit and nuts to assist those in need. took me down a rabbit trail to myspace.

hmmm....im new to twitter, not sure what i'll be using it for mainly as yet but for now i've been trying to connect with fellow islanders and persons interested in fashion plus as someone who listens to the news never, i try to find alot of factual sources to follow as well, i wish our local paper twittered!

I started from curiosity, but I now tweet a lot to help to promote the vote for my fanzine nomination for the Canadian Aurora Award this coming August. As soon as I have its Website up I'll advertise it on my Twitter page too.

I use it to reconnect with old colleages, find new colleagues particular in the ecommerce niche, and to gain recognition for myself and my businesses.

I use my personal twitter account just to write things that are happening in my life like a ridiculous journal. I am VERY uninterested in the "twitter as marketing" tool and even for my activist blog site I use it only as a tool for sharing information. I've been writing a lot lately and love the @replies

I Tweet for fun and to try to raise the profile of charity fund raising. I am also trying to connect with people who have suffered from cancer or lost a loved one to the disease.
We have a great deal in common, and I want to do my bit to help again for another year by running 2000 miles in 2009 for Cancer Research UK.

Soul cleansing?

I currently manage a twitter account for a program within a large non-profit organization. The Program's goal is to invest in and develop college students in such a way that provides them with the tools to own the problem of poverty in our world today, and potentially bring about change. We have two semester study abroad centers in Africa and Southeast Asia, and we are opening a 3rd in Latin America soon. Our goal is to have 120 college students every semester attending one of those centers, getting college credit for themselves, and, hopefully, seeing explicit ways they can address the issues of poverty. Twitter provides us with the ability to network with colleges, universities, student groups, students, and other "high impact" individuals to further spread our name and cast our vision.

We're hoping to draw more people to the good stuff in skateboarding, and to read our magazine about the good stuff in skateboarding via our website ... hopefully in a way that's more like friends talking to friends than it is robots mining for robot eyes.

I just started with Twitter. I want to use it to help encourage positive global consciousness. Collectively working together Humanity can make a difference in the world we live in.

Of course I'll definately use it to follow things going on in the world, new tech coming out, and Knitting (because I am hopelessly addicted to it and buying yarn), but so much can be accomplished when people step out of their own paradigm and negativity and actually focus on solutions rather then the problem. Its all about choice.

i am using it to collaborate with other business owners, website developers, photographers, and also hoping to get some feedback from stars like miley cyrus and taylor swift whom might give helpful info for my 14 yo daughter who is great singer but has stage fright. I have not received any feedback from them yet.:) but all other reasons mentioned have been awesome.

I started out using twitter just to socialize outside my immediate circle of friends but then I saw how I can use it for business. I am a real estate agent but I don't want to hawk my listings or stalk buyers, however I would like to build a local sphere of influence and network locally thru Twitter.
I do like to comment on news of the day, community events & what ever randomness I am thinking at the time.
I think it is very helpful when I need a question answered. I do find it hard to get local people to follow , it seems I get more people from Toronto or places that I have no connection to for work.

I am a recruiter primarily focusing on the financial services sector but also I work with other firms as well.
I am using twitter to broaden my audience particularly in this market where we have a large number of people seeking out opportunities; my goal is to provide to my network on twitter access to positions as they hit my desk.

You'd be surprised at how many firms are hiring out there at the present moment, despite the doom and gloom we see on the TV and in the press. If you look back at my posting logs you will see on average a new position is coming through our agency every 2hrs or so. That does fluctuate I know today for example was a little bit down with only three jobs hitting the market, but they are three great jobs where clients are seeking to hire people i.e they are real and a candidate with the right experience for the position will get the job, hopefully one of ours and hopefully one sourced from my network of followers on twitter.

In essence my goal is real time jobs updates for people following me, access to those jobs and a faster more efficient search completion time for my clients.

I also make myself available to speak with anyone who is following me on twitter, discuss the market talk about your career, provide advice on your resume, positioning of yourself in the market etc all you have to do is call me 212 279 7777.

I used twitter to manage the clutter in my mind, i'm a constant worrier so its nice to have an outlet like Twitter. its also a good place for me to stay connected with others.

I use Twitter to encourage others, including RT good quotes or links, to exchange ideas, to connect socially or update friends.

I joined twitter to see what it was. Now that has evolved into trying to find the most people that i know.

Hopefully connect to other creative people.

I use Twitter for two reasons:
1-to connect with people who might be interested in my writing, books or speaking.
2-who might be able to help me with research for articles, books, etc.

Basically, it would be great to have a large number of followers to notify when I have a book published and for sale or when I have a question about something and need an expert to answer that question.

Beyond that, I want to share and to help and to offer bits of wisdom, if I have any! What I do is offer practical spiritual, human potential and personal growth tools from a Jewish perspective, but they are relevant to people from all faiths and spiritual traditions. It's nice to be able to let more people know about my blogs and my work.

I am also involved in writing about boys in the dance world, so it's nice to connect with people on Twitter about that and to direct them to my blog.

Of course, it's nice to let agents and publishing professionals know about my work via Twitter.

And last, it's great to hook up with other writers and experts in the field of publishing, PR, marketing, etc. There are tons of great links and tips offered.

I love being one of the people to be putting out inspirational and helpful quotes as well.

My uses for twitter?

1. Just started a MLM business selling jewelry. Please buy from me, proceeds are paying for international adoption!

2. Keep up with my friends - I hate talking on the phone. ;)

Twitter Blogger; I tweet thoughts because the 140 count is a better format for me rather than a 'full' blog. I find that the short bursts work a lot better for me in conveying words that attempt to capture the flow of what spirituality is all about.

I use twitter to advocate, educate, and learn more about Autism. Learning the ropes has been fun. I love finding new people to follow. We are battling with the Oklahoma GOP over passing an insurance mandate for autism coverage and I hope to educate others on this issue as well. Hi, My reason for using Tweeter is I am new to the Santa Monica area and want to meet people in my area who are in need of my services. And to learn from other people in the small business arena

I'm still getting used to Twitter. It's fascinating. I use it for building business, socializing, and research. I am also bewildered at the number of Twitter Tools that have been created. They are giving iPhone apps a run for their money. =)

I think my biggest challenge on Twitter is getting the Gurus to answer a question. Even with a DM they are so overwhelmed as Twitter makes everyone so accessible. There should be a Twitter Guru.

Learning as I go.

I use it to get my blog out there, and to interact with others. It's far less time consuming than chat. I follow back everyone that follows me, even if it takes a few days to do so. I also follow the famous, cause one day, just maybe, they'll read me and I'll wind up on Oprah. It's a long shot, I know, but hey, dare to dream.

I use Twitter to follow my favourite comics who tweet to tell their fans when they've updated their strips. I also follow a few fan groups who run trivia and promotions like geek magazines, bloggers, or podcasters.

Just Trying to help others achieve their goals in life. Things are more complicated now than they ever have been in the past. Too much stress and financial hardship out there. If there is someone I can put to work - all the better.

I use twitter for social interaction with people of similar interests and who I find interesting. I would love to search based on interests but also based on how often people tweet, how many followers they have and how many they follow. On the whole I want to follow people with no more than 200 followers with similar interests and regular tweets but not too many to clutter my steam. Possible? Nigel.

I am interested in following small-medium sized construction companies and architects in general to know what the day to day issues are that we as an industry face. I'm new to the industry, in business development. Also, the ability to communicate with women in construction would be beneficial.

My use of Mr. Tweet is to alert businesses as to how I can attract new clients for them, through publicity. Also, to let them know that we create Vodcasts as a value-added service to our retainer clients, at no additional cost.

Hi Mr Tweet, fantastic blog. I joined twitter to promote a charity single that myself and a group of mums campaigned for. We got Chris Rea/Warners Bros to agree to re-release of Tell Me Theres A Heaven in memory of Baby P and all children whose lives have been lost to abuse. Proceeds from the download of this song go to the NSPCC to help protect those still at risk.
Our main aim is to honour this brave little soldier and others like him with this beautiful song and also to raise much needed funds for a great charity.
We had some national news coverage of this a week before the release, but since then... nothing. I have found a lot of lovely people including some celebs on twitter who been so kind to RT for us. I think this has made a big difference to our campaign.

I started using Twitter not only to increase exposure of my art, but also to gain information on topics I wanted to know about, not what the media decides I want to know about..... I've met people from different walks of life, all with different pursuits, and yet there is enough of a common thread to open communication on mutually relevant topics. Not to mention the love of comedy on here.... Laugh? Big laughs.
And being the ever-expressive creature that I am, it's great to have a place to share a thought. I can share links to my profiles and sites, share information with others with few limits, and there's a certain degree of camaraderie in Twitter that comes from such informal messaging.

I'm new to twitter, just about a month. I joined to find people /moms like me that I could market my products to and help get exposure for my products. I'm using Twitter to help me connect with people who love to learn and are entrepreneurs at heart.

Another reason I joined Twitter is because I had zero experience interacting with social media before March 24, 2009 and I want to change that. I want to become more social : )
with new friends, people I meet networking, and a world of people out there already socializing on Twitter.

I've ended up with a split personality on Twitter (something that took me 6 months to figure out...I'm a bit stunned...haha!). One profile for professional/network me to track and contribute to trends in travel, tourism and tech, and a 2nd profile (added since Xmas) to connect to people interested in my destination. The destination twitter is now feeding live into my 'old fashioned' website...content doesn't get any fresher than that!

Both profiles have a good balance of broadcast and conversation, followers and followees, etc. but they each have very different personalities. interestingly though, both are authentically 'me'.

I think that Twitter has HUGE potential for destinations seeking to connect to prospective, past and live visitors. Not many Canadian destinations using it (yet) but lots of travel agents. Growth of tourism&travel conversations on Twitter is/will contribute greatly to its growth and relevance to current non-twitterers. Who wouldn't want current and authentic travel tips, insider info, deals, destination trivia and live help when traveling?
